How Do You Use Social Media?
I limited my social media use for three reasons:
1. Bad news was polluting my soul.
2. The algorithm was reducing my attention span.
3. I was too interested in the validation that comes from likes and comments.
So, I started staying off platforms for days at a time and then weeks.

If social media is your storefront or ministry, this obviously isn’t possible for you. You need to be present constantly and engage with your audience in DMs and the comments section.
Knowing your target audience helps, though. Mine is Gen X and older Millennials, so there are other ways to reach them. I also have a team that informs me of important messages.
But if your audience is Gen Z, you need to be on social media, especially TikTok. TikTok is the biggest discovery platform for young people today – bigger than Google. It’s also where you spot trends and observe movements.
You should use social media in a way that makes sense for you. Ultimately, I want to be a net content producer, not consumer.
